MiniROM Installation for Modcan 22A MiniWave

Before you begin you will need the following:
  • Soldering iron (temperature controlled or 25W)
  • No clean solder - I suggest Kester 245
  • 26 AWG wire strippers
  • Flush diagonal cutters
  • A clean, flat, static-free work surface
  1. Verify that your Modcan 22A MiniWave is identical to the picture below. If not stop immediately and contact me for further assistance.
  2. Remove the MiniROM from the anti-static packaging and ensure all pins are straight.
  3. Noting pin 1 of the MiniROM, carefully insert the MiniROM into socket U9 or U10 of the MiniWave, or an empty socket of the Hylander expander if so configured.
  4. Strip and tin all four 26AWG wires of the MiniROM cable assembly.
  5. Plug the MiniROM cable assembly into the MiniROM.
  6. Place the Mini Wave component side down.
  7. Using the pictures below as a guide, solder the wire connected to pin 1 of the MiniROM cable assembly to U4 pin 16.
  8. Solder the wire connected to pin 2 of the MiniROM cable assembly to U4 pin 15.
  9. Solder the wire connected to pin 3 of the MiniROM cable assembly to U2 pin 15.
  10. Solder the wire connected to pin 5 of the MiniROM cable assembly to U11 pin 11.
  11. Use the included cable ties to tidy up the cabling.
  12. Double check your work.
  13. Enjoy!
